About the Artist
With a delicacy verging on photorealism, the marks made by painter Olivier D become whirling, dripping orbs, as strokes of paint in indigo, burnt umber, crimson and teal bounce and zip about the canvas. These energetic watercolor and acrylic works employ shades of geometric abstraction alongside found materials including seaweeds, seashells, sand and beach waste. Waste and waste treatment in relationship to the natural environment is an ongoing concern that manifests itself multifariously in an artistic oeuvre that is notably marked by rebellion.
