Isidro Olguin Jr.
, 43
San Antonio, United States
About the Artist
Born in 1981, Isidro Olguin Jr. lives in San Antonio, TX where he attends San Antonio College. As a self taught artist he has experimented with many mediums and uses his experience to create unique and complex works. He began with clay and later moved to making sculptures with mesquite. He also incorporates mesquite into his pit fired ceramic vessels. Lately he has been drawing more and experimenting with dry media to create a sculptural effect on paper. He has gained recognition through schools that he has attended such as South Texas College and San Antonio College, and plans to get a MFA in the future. Using the most simplistic of materials like ink, charcoal, graphite, and cut paper, he combines them to create new textures and forms. He preserves the integrity of the medium and reminds the viewer of it's complexity. "Along with my continuing urge for knowledge, I aspire for sophistication and elegance in my work."
