About the Artist
I am inspired by the unexpected potential that arises after rejection of discarded objects. The juxtaposition of detritus with the natural landscape creates an aesthetic that may be overlooked/dismissed because it is not anticipated. The interruption of the pattern of their use allows objects to transmute into something else and hold an essence of beauty through a new relationship with the natural environment. I explore the reciprocal energies between the decaying manmade form and the landscape, finding a complimentary connection. I bring to the experience my view as a ceramicist, perceiving the rich variety of form and colours of dumped/burnt out vehicles placed within patterns of intense and varied/changing beauty of the fields, farmland and forest of Mt. Leinster. The ability to perceive beauty in an unexpected context rests with the viewer, dependent on their recognition of their own inner essence, an awareness of the all-perceiving divine energy.
