website: http://marilynchapman.ca In my latest series of paintings, I explore the delicate co-existence of ecosystems. Living on Vancouver Island, I am inspired by the extraordinary beauty of Canada's west coast: the organic flow of the swirling sea intertwined with forest foliage, scrolling tree textures, weathered sandstone and driftwood and repeating drops of rain. Painting in acrylics on large canvas, I build watery layers of fluid colour, then discover the intricate patterns of nature’s delicate detail within. The resulting abstractions tell the story of our fragile, interwoven and interdependent environment.
